Lake Island on Van Isle?
Hey all, I am brand new here. Well, to club tread. We are well acquainted with the outdoors. We took our teenagers to the Sayward Canoe Route last year and since our vehicle did not like the road to Morton, we are hoping to find something else that is similar. What the boys really want is an island that we can paddle to and camp on. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks so much for any help.
Quadra Island has a provincial park called Main lakes. There are free campsites all over it, on shore as well as on at least 1 island. There are other islands with unofficial sites on them. Fresh water, great fishing, lakes are all connected, great area to explore. Good backwoods camping that is kayak/canoe access. Surreal hike on an old logging road out to the ocean. At night you hear wolves howl. Overall really nice big park. Highly recommend it.
Campbell Lake has some islands that are easily accessible. The island closest to the boat launch on the east side had some brushed out areas inland to camp, but nothing really viable on the shore. It's been a few years since I was there, so conditions may have changed.
