Default Questions about Boat Basin to Hot Springs Cove

Hi all,

Some friends and I are planning a hike from along Hesquiat Peninsula, from Escalante point down to Hot Springs cove. From the other threads on the forum here we have a pretty good idea from Escalante to Boat Basin, but has anyone trekked the section from Boat Basin to Hot Springs cove in recent years? Information about this section seems hard to come by.

A few main questions would be:
Is there a decent camp spot along this section? (planning only one stop on this leg of the trip)
Is the old telegraph line the best approach?
How does one cross hot springs cove itself? We plan for a water taxi to tofino, but not before a day of relaxation at the hot springs.

Thanks in advance, any info is appreciated!

I've been told there's a lot of bush to whack your way through

Haven't hiked it but I know logging roads go around the north end of Kanim Lake up and over the hill to Hot Springs Cove village.

The Telegraph route would go around the other end of the lake, I think, closer to the coast--a few remote coves along there but doesn't look like a walking beach. I explored the channel between the west side of the cove and Mate Isl. looking for the "Sea Caves Trail" but found nothing shoreside.

I suspect you would need to boat across to the hotsprings from the village, I've bushwhacked beyond the campsite near the hotsprings dock and it's rough, almost got lost just trying to cross the peninsula.
