I would be interested in this one as well. Always wanted to go there and see the totems. My sources tell me that they used the bodies of enemies
to line the pits for the poles. A few years back I ran across a fellow by the name of Bullwinkle on the Adventure B.C. web site .He was from there and had some good info ,but I lost touch with him. here is some of his stuff.

The archaeological record indicates that people have inhabited the Queen Charlotte Islands for more than seven thousand years. At the time of the first contact with European explorers in 1775, there were an estimated six thousand Haida living in the Islands, and an additional three thousand living in the Prince of Wales Archipelago in southeast Alaska. These people spoke four dialects (Kunghit, Skidegate, Massett, and Kaigani) and occupied several dozen villages spread throughout their insular domain.

For the most part this area escaped the last ice age and has a very unique ecosystem. Most people know about the Spirit Bear, but I'm sure there are other treasures to find. From what I understand the best time to go is late August to avoid the bulk of the rain.

I don't think there are hiking trails of any length on Moresby. I am familiar and have hiked Naikoon Park on eastern side of Graham Island. This is a beach hike. Not dramatic by WCT standards but OK.

Whoa, there's a troll. I have a folding double kayak (feathercraft) and I've kayaked the south end of Moresby - down to Rose Harbour, across to Ninstints, Hotspring Island, etc - and found that the Charlottes are best seen by boat. There are very few roads and even fewer trails and the most spectacular stuff is boat accessible only. The place is truly spectacular.
