Default Arrowsmith Road Conditions

I was in the Arrowsmith area yesterday and Cameron Mainline and Pass Main have been graded VERY clean. The road has been plowed and graded all the way to just below the former upper ski lodge site. This includes about 3-4 kilometres of road in the ski park, removing about a meter and a half of snow from the road bed. This is serious road work and I assume that Island Timberlands is going ahead with their plans to push a road through a portion of the ski park, to reach their holdings outside the park. I assume that they got permission from Alberni Clayoquot Regional District, who own the ski park.

Cameron Main was clear, beyond Pass Main, until Branch 23, the fork leading to Minas Ridge. The rest of the mainline to Labour Day Lake was still under snow, but melting fast.

Cambium,

I sort of agree with your rant, but what exactly can either the Regional District of Alberni/Clayoquot or the Regional District of Nanaimo do to change logging operations on lands owned outright by a private company? You give me a good answer and I'll back you. Otherwise, all you're doing is dividing the factions further apart, with no solution.

Peter

PS You're losing it again

yep , kinda got to see it from your point of view too , or mine.

Now you heard my rant > its gone .
Gave you some ideas in there [ try the IMF or call in the big shots @ U.N. b.r. , and purchase it pronto ; seems they could both use some Good P.R. Chance for them to redeem themselves.
A corporate global -carbon -credit bank derived from the entire MTN ?

Say , Heard too that you climbed to the Massif about 40 times a decade or so ago.
Mighty impressive.
Guess we could say you got a feel of the place.
Guessing too, you & I haven't met up , you like rocks , I like trees .

Losing it , the trees . History.

p.s. ,it is a crappy world , ... & I hate to tell you more bad news;
Some asses burnt Mtn Gary's Pad to rubble this winter.
Ugly stuff.

Think I'll go now.

The sight & sounds of things to come , the cokely arrowsmith will be noisy , zoom in .

{Factions are not just divided, they are oceans apart , stubborn & intransigent, knowing people are not willing to get their feet wet and step in .
In the face of injustice & a passion for life and nature , some people rightly do get upset.
Some important trees , habitat ,and memories are about to bite the dust. }

as a side bar concern , I wonder if any one that visits the arrowsmith area in the winter takes notes of the snowmobiles travelling here .
I've noticed that with the increased clearcuts , snowmobiles are now using the parks to get their Tree-Jollies.
Also a disturbing act of arson/misadventure that can only be attributed to snowmobile access.
May be the ATV-Snowmobile societies should get on Island Timberlands phone lines and ask for some logging - reconsiderations ?

I dont think that is a fair comment. I own snowmobiles. I'm sure there are a lot of people like myself that enjoy being able to get out and enjoy the awesome places you can explore on a snowmobile in winter. I always do my best to be respectful of nature whether it is winter or summer and no matter what recreational activity I am enjoying. That being said, unfortunately, not everybody thinks the same way.
