Talking Spot It - community game

Let's play a game!

It goes like this: I'm going to post an objective. It may be specific, or it may be more general. One of you is going to find this object whilst out and about on one of your trips (or daily life). You will take a picture of this object and post it here. Then it's your turn to choose the objective, and the game continues for the next person to find your object

Let's start with something easy... a pair of Trekking poles.

Remember to post a new objective after your picture!

Maybe we could try something we don't all have in our closets.... like a culturally modified tree. You probably need to go to a forest for that.

I knew it would be something everyone would have on them while out and about. I did say I'd start easy

And the judges allow it! I did say it could be in daily life. Rooting through a closet definitely comes in to play in daily life

So we're looking for a culturally modified tree now!

Here ya go folks :} ... a Joshua tree, from the Hidden Valley of the Joshua tree National Park (Calif.) from where we just returned yesterday. This particular Joshua tree, and a few around it, were pruned about 100 years ago so that cattle rustlers could tie up their horses without the animals scratching themselves on the scales of the branches. True enough it's not really a tree (being sort of a yucca plant) but hey, it certainly was culturally modified!

now, how about a 'live stump' or 'living stump' https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Living_stump
.... they're out there, you've seen them if you've been a hiker/climber/scrambler on the west coast .... you may not have noticed them but you will now .... I know for a fact one of the participants in this thread has posted a picture of one

Tree Monster! (Mt. Killam trail, Gambier Island)

I am looking for rustic cabin. Must be:

1. Somewhere in back-country (i.e. you must actually hike to get there)
2. Cabin is protected as Cultural Resource under National Parks act

Turtle Tom's Cabin, Banff NP. Or is this too rustic? My objective is an outlandish summit cairn, something more than the usual pile o'rocks.

This is a tough one. Perhaps the solution is to get out there and build one!

Yes, tough one. Would the judges accept this? It is very iconic, (almost) 6000m and certainly not just a pile of rocks

If going into my closet for poles was cheating, going into your closet of photos for a summit pic is equally so.

@Trail Talk must meet with the judges on this one if it meets your objective, make it so!

What other sorts of cairns would one come across? Honestly I had to look up 'cairn' haha Turns out I know them as 'inuksuk'. But we don't have many summits here so I don't think any of mine would qualify

And @zeljkok you need to be ready with the next objective!
