Default Needed - Digital Image Basics

A friend of mine is a total newbie to digital images, and I'm hoping that somebody might have a good resource for covering the basics, that would save me a lot of eplaining and let him do a bit of studying for himself.

I'm sure a few CTers will find it helpful as well

Kodak has a digital learning center that your friend might find helpful:

123di.com is very, very good.

This is an e-book that was recommended to me and it lists the basics of photography, the essentials of digital photography, and how to use Photoshop to manipulate digital photographs.

highly recommended,

Thanks for the suggestions. That Kodak one looks quite useful. He's not doing the digital photography yet, but needs to get a better understanding of how digital images work.... ie pixels, resolution etc.

Thanks for posting Hodge, I'm new to digital too and need more info on the basics. Isn't there also a book "Digital for Dummies"?

Hey Bunny - There is a Digital for Dummies and I had a look at it for my daughter, who is starting out with the digital camera. I didn't think it was very good. It covered too broad of a range, and didn't really detail anything helpful.

There is a book that I saw at Half Price Computer Books, which looked a little better. Complete Digital Photography by Ben Long. I haven't had a chance to go through it, but it appears to cover the basics on photopgrahy as well as editing.
