Default ClubTread Photo of the month - February entries

It feels like Winter has just begun with all the recent snow and the wild cold snap. Take out those cameras and get some great winter shots! This month's theme is: Winter Action. This could include people hopping over something, snowshoeing, walking, running, swimming in an alpine lake etc. We'll even accept snowshoe surfing.

This month's photo of the month prize has been donated by Valhalla Vancouver. The prize will be a pair of Teva Fleece Socks (Size L). Winner to pay shipping or pick up at a future CT dinner.

If you have a suggestion for a future topic, email me at [email protected]

REGULAR NOTES:

Looking for your submissions for the photo of the month. You can be honored as the outdoor photographer for the month. It doesn't matter if it is digital or SLR, as long as you can submit it in an electronic form. Format should be 640x480, JPG, any quality level you like, max file size 512K.

Each person can only submit one photo for that particular month. Submissions can continue until the 20th. Submissions are made by replying to this thread and including your photo in the reply. Also include some info as to where the photo was taken, etc.

People will then have an opportunity to vote on the picture from the 21st of the month until the end of that month. The photo with the most votes can be set as the photo of the month. On the 21st of this month, send your vote to [email protected]. Please do take the time to vote as it shows your support for the photographers who have submitted their work.

Yea maybe we should make it Winter in Action besides Todd

I like the "swimming" category. Hey Russ why don't I get a shot of you in your speedo diving off that snowy dock at Buntzen?

I like that... Winter action sans Nut. We wouldn't want to encourage him or anything. LOL

I should add, please remember. Be safe. Or you'll be signing a waiver to enter! LOL

Not much of an action shot, but there are two snowboarders present in the photo

I'm shocked! Not many submissions. At this pace, we'll need to lift the ban on Hiking Nut snow faceplant photos.

Um hmmmmm.[B)]

My problem is: I think I can still do better than what I've got.

Of course I do like this one...

and this one...

But my judgement may be a bit skewed due to my affinity for the person in these last two photographs[:I][:0]

ahhh what's a girl to do[?]

My entry for the month...a couple of climbers heading up the slopes of Mt. Shasta, who were ahead of us on the climb.

I don't have access to most of my photos but I'll put in two to try and illicit some submissions from other CT'ers

Descending into a crevasse

Hauling a sled on Denali

Pity the theme isn't a summer theme as well. I have a great one of me 'hopping' over something. If you look carefully you can see the pure terror in my eyes!

here is a nice one from a three day snowshoe hike into elfin lakes. first night spent at red heather meadows as we ran into a storm about an hour past there up to elfin (in the dark!) that completely swallowed up the trail, and second night at the much cozier elfin lake shelter. met up with a group of swiss folk and a couple of nice guys skiing in and out. the powder was incredible and you could run-slide down it on the snowshoes. this is a shot of me greeting a snow gnome taken by pipsqueak and entered on her behalf with approval, just a few hundred feet to the left of the shelter with a clear sky and incredible clouds by the mountains, a stunning afternoon...
