Here is a photo I took at a lake in Quebéc, near Montréal. We were lucky and got to snowshoe all over the lake and explore its may shores. During the night we got to fall asleep to the sound of the ice cracking on the lake. Quite the sound really. Its called Lake Koel near a town called St. Émelie-de-l'Énergie.

More like winter hinterland. Landslide Lake on the Island. Finding the trail was a challenge for sure.

Thanks. It's on the west coast of central Vancouver Island, near Gold River. It's at the base of Mt Colonel Foster and near Mt Elkhorn. We had ascended the day before and there was no snow whatsoever! It really came down overnight. Here's the story and map: http://members.shaw.ca/deanchamberla...Strathcona.htm (scroll down the page)

X-country skiing somewhere past Whistler last year, I love the mountains at night in the winter.
