I actually prefer the 'before' shots.
I think the technique is interesting, but I like the crisp photos that actually show what's there.

I'm imagining that is how all photos will appear through my eyes after a few more decades (without glasses, LOL). I agree with TheShadow that the before shots are fine the way they are.

Well it doesn't work well in every instance but sometimes you can't tell unless you try, rather like black & white conversions it has to be the right photo. I like the look not for making it look realistic but for a more 'creative' aspect. In the ones from Havasu there was always varying degrees of mist in the air and lots of soft diffused or reflected light, I think it worked best on some of those.

Sorry 'buster... It was more of an "FYI" thing... I'm no good at that technique... still lernin' how to take pictures !!!
