Default Learning to fly..

I was sitting in the canoe on the ocean side of Westham Island during dusk last night. I was hoping to catch another aerial acrobatics show from the swarms of dunlins hanging about when this really kind bald eagle swooped down to offer a common duck some flying lessons right in front of me.

Wow! Something to witness let alone get a photo of.

I grew up in Richmond and spent many hours exploring the west marsh. Used to marvel at the swarms of Dunlin on the sand flats at low tide. Fluid is a good descriptor.

Just another reason you watch for traffic ascending from one altitude to next? I would say his take-off roll got cut short.

Wow! Someone's good day can be another's *really* bad one.

Say would that be an in flight meal service? Doesn't that cost extra these days?

I don't go anywhere outdoors anymore without my camera because of the opportunities one can capture.

Seeing that without a camera to take a picture would be upsetting to me

They coulda used that for a pink floyd album cover...

How very true deeks, I should have gone with something like that for this thread title. Thanks for the kind words people, it was a lucky capture but I could have done so much better. I had just got out of my canoe to stretch my legs and couldn't quite run fast enough to get and aim the camera when I saw the eagle enter into his nose dive... because I knew what was coming. I tried though

lol, I think it's a matter of perception..

A few others I took that night and last night, too bad the first one blurred, he was taking a birdbath and to my eyes... looks a little undignified.

Monster, that's a full grown eagle so it's no longer a flying lesson...maybe he was taking a bath?

I find it hard to believe one person keeps getting all these magnificant shots, you must be charmed or some kind of magician. Tell me your secrets please

Holy crap, I cant believe how huge my own camera and lens looks in that pic! Seriously, it's only a 200mm lens on a Canon 20D, not that big at all. [:0]
