Unfreakin believable pics pete, must have a hell of a zoom, wouldn't wanna get too close to them grizzlies!

500mm + 1.4 extender = max

But a big zoom doesn't help if you don't find animals to take a shot off.. Some of these pics are amazing!

I love the black bears shots. You are one lucky guy!!
The shots with the cute cubs of year are taken this spring ... just by my property. I was fortunate to have this family hang out near my place for May & June. The sow was very tolerant, and I was able to get close enough for photos on about five or six evenings over those two months. Very, very special treat as most times the bears around here take off as soon as they see you.

Thanks for the kind words! Most of the black bear with 2 cubs of the year photos were taken with my 300mm only (some with the 500mm only - none with extender). See the note above for the explanation.

Some were from last summer (the sow with 4 cubs for example). That was taken with my old 400mm lens.

Cheers!

Hello everybody, this is my first post on this site. I thought a combination of my old love (photography) with my new one (hiking) would make a good start. This is a link to my hiking sub-gallery (feel free to travel up the site for a glimpse into my life in pictures, including extensive travel photography). The hiking part reflects my progression from absloute illiterate to the beginner hiker I am now. I update it with every hike, which means that every week should yield a new page. The Hiking Highlights page offers a selection and links back to the individual hike pages.

can someone tell me what the best website is to show your photos in which i won't be paying a monthly fee?

i looked into flickr and u only get 20mb a month..is this what everyone is doing, is is everyone paying?

just curious?

my website is too complicated and u i don't want to bother with it anymore..and would love to share some of my better pics.

any suggestions.?...

I use webshots (free) 1000 photos +100 for every month you are there.
My home page at Tripod only allows 20mb. It's free as well so i just do trails on that + some info.

Oriana,

I have a livejournal, but with a paid membership ($19 USD a year) I get 2 gigs of storage space and fully customizable galleries. I can upgrade the storage to 12 gigs for and additional $24/yr. I have had the journal for over 6 years and they have been great. I think you can get the scrapbook galleries with 1 gig of storage space if you sign up for a plus account. It is free but you have to put with advertising. Here is my gallery - I just started it this weekend.

Be careful with Photobucket - I think the terms includes granting license to them to use your photos any way they please while they are being hosted there.

I have a Flikr account, and a Kodak easyshare account as well, but I don't really like the interface and I haven't spent enough time there to know if they are customizable.

and

are my two albums that I always put my pictures in from hiking around down here in Utah, Nevada, and Arizona. Hope to some day add BC pics to the album.
I change the pictures with each outing. So, they only last a week or so on alternating links above. Great post! Cheers!

I'm not a professional, photography is just a hobby for me. The way I see it even if nobody visit my site, I can still write off the equipments and camping trips for tax purposes, win win for me. :)
