It's that time of the year to throw on the hiking boots and explore... Will scope out Munro Creek in the near future to see if there is any easy way to by pass this SEC gate... Anyone have been doing any exploring in that area as of late?

After 15 years we will finally have closure. I just got off the horn with Metro Vancouver and they confirmed there will be walking access through the SEC. The road is in bad shape and work will begin to fix it up starting in 2021.

They did confirm that there will not be vehicle access to the road.

First post on CT in more than 12 years. Glad to see this old thread still on top of The Lodge. That's my poorly drawn photoshop pictures around page 27-28+ showing our proposed "route" past the SEC.

Good memories. Hope you're all doing well!

Maybe someone can do a Blair Witch style video trip report when it opens? haha.

This makes me a little sad, actually. Not that they're opening it up to hiking (and biking maybe), just the end of a grand mystery....

I never get lost. It's just that sometimes, I'm not sure where I am.

If you could get in there on a mountain bicycle it would open up many possibilities for bike-hiking.

Oh, I agree. Just...this is the bestest thread ever. All good things, they say.

Has anyone walked through the future park to get to the Widgeon Creek Campground recently?

- Latest satellite images show that the houses near 49.3512, -122.6538 have been demolished.
- Strava's Global Heatmap shows tracks through the area.

It would be a shame to open up access to Widgeon Creek and Falls. Its busy enough as it is. If you put a land based trail in there and foot traffic will increase enormously and the infrastructure will not be able to support it.

if you're not hiking you should be skiing
