Default Old was better....

I am finding this "new" site quite a PITA to navigate.
It is not very "user friendly" and although the old site needed some tweaking...I find this new version a bit of a train wreck. This wasn't a tweak, it was a complete renovation.

Getting frustrated is a more effective way of driving away old members, than a few threads full of bickering.....just saying.

I really enjoyed the simplicity of the old CT. Of course it needed a cleanup and real functionality upgrades (which likely could not be done without a backend change) but the overall user experience was OK. Yeah, I miss it, even with its clunkiness.

Yes, old CT had simplistic interface which made it easy to learn and navigate. But new CT is much more feature rich; it is simply a question of getting used to it. We also have responsive admins that are listening and willing to tweak issues (garage gone, photo issues resolved, etc etc).

Things are not going back; with time if we all give new CT honest shot, it can become real special as well. Just my 5 cents.

I find the two very similar. A few changes, but really not that big. The only two problems I have is that https://clubtread.com/ is now defunct, and the photos on old posts. But as zeljkok said, these are small issues, or at least they should be.

Yup, that's probably true. There's much to like in the new functionality, although I still preferred a simple, uncluttered UI where you basically got to everything with a couple of clicks. Modern UI design is just too **** busy and not just in CT either.

I'm not a fan so far. If you want to use driving as an analogy we now make a series of left turns to get someplace rather than driving straight there. The other thing is that it seems to be more of an assault on the eyes. The old forum was admittedly somewhat clunkier, as XJ 6 said, but this one is frankly way too busy

Just to give you an idea:

My old TR's....where are they?
When I click on a photo in a post, all I get in the address bar is about:blank ...and no picture.
Made two or three posts yesterday, now I can't find them.
Constantly being "subscribed" to every thread you read/respond to.

Little things like that.
I am a member of several other forums and the UI's are a LOT more intuitive than this one.
I've also tried to join a few forums, and was baffled by the Front-end and subsequently left after a few days of frustration.
I'm not trying to sound like some old curmudgeon that hates change....****, I've even updated to Windows7 (ugh)...but I tend to be impatient when something that SHOULD be easy, isn't.

...and REALLY? Editing out "h e l l" ?

It was Steve Jobs belief that computers and their software should be 'as easy to use as a toaster'. It worked for him.

The site is fine. It has a standard, modern design. And it also works on the phone (finally!). People that don't like it I'm sure also don't like a lot of other new technology, like GPS, electric kettles, and water coming straight out of their taps. In any case, the forum can change skins and be customized, as needed.

The only bad thing is all old pictures are now missing, which renders old trip reports pretty much useless. It doesn't seem like updating image url's would be so hard.

You're priceless Arnold, you really are. Love that thumbnail pic you chose for yourself. Now THAT IS an improvement over the old CT, for sure.

I'm not sure arnie could even feel a tiny jab ... he's purdy darn nasty!

Actually, (truthfully) I think Arnie's one of the great characters of CT so I'm glad he likes the new site
