I was reminded of my first posts here by a TR posted today "Magnificent Shades of Grey on the Upper Airplane". I was struck by a photo of the Still-Welch col which shows way more snow than when I visited around the same time of year.

I plan to upgrade the photos I originally provided, now that I have a scanner and I hope to provide some additional photos from my father's collection.

Default Mt Welch memorial

Just to let people know our air cadet squadron 147 Airwolf in Chilliwack BC is attempting to rebuild a monument to these brave men. We are proposing a dedication of the monument on May 31 2015. If people are interested in helping out with the monument, financially or knowing more the contact person is Lt (Navy) Ron Shore at 604-857-2488 or e-mail onshore2003 at yahoo.com

The squadron has done a number of reconnaissance missions to the site and wants to remember these men. Contact has been made with the War Graves Commission and more information will be forthcoming.

Peak Bagger, where did you hear about 50 cal in the Still
Welch Col.? In 1979 I found one while climbing the west
face of Welch, I dropped it down a gully to the col, but
could not carry it out, I left it there.
