Default Strachan Fall Colors and new grafitti

We had some friends visiting from back east so we thought a good bang-for-the-buck hike would be up Christmas Gulley to Mt. Strachan. As usual, a bit chilly in the Strachan/Black valley starting out at 900m elevation at 7:45. A few people on the trail towards Strachan Meadows but not crowded. We got to the little bridge at the meadows and there was some new signage.

and a sign on the bridge even, just incase you miss the sign on the tree:

Then there was excessive flagging and spray paint, some times every 2m, up to the pass. It was really ugly.

I can see the person who did this probably meant well but I thought he could have left his spray can at home.

================================

Once we got to the pass the temps warmed up and we got up to Strachan and enjoyed the views. It was pleasantly warm up top with no wind and the distant peaks were visible.

We walked down the road and saw a bear scurry across the ski run half way down. Back at the ski area I couldn't believe all of the cars, the main parking lot was completely full and the lot 3A was even half full! I guess the pandemic hiking thing and the new mountain coaster are popular.

Yes; it's the same everywhere, certain parking lots I know for years over here now have more than twice cars. It is the pandemic side-effect, and not something that was immediately evident would happen

Are there any restrictions for Cypress / Seymour? I might be visiting soon & was planning Strachan fall colors hike.

No passes needed, just go like in the old days
Garibaldi/Chief/Golden Ears/Joffre still require passes, I think.

Thanks martin! Will post some pics if I make it

btw that arrow paint mess is really ugly, with excessive flagging at least you can take it all down but what do you do with this. It will get eventually weathered, but then some other monkey will paint somewhere else. Sign board (is it by BC Parks?) is ok though

We just missed each other (we were off around 7:30). As you already know, Captain Obvious has now spray painted the HSCT between St Marks and Unnecessary. They weren't there in the morning. We started noticing them on the way back as we re-entered the trees. How far he went towards Unnecessary, I don't know. All sad, ugly and useless.
Christmas Gully has now lost it's appeal.

I hate to say it, but this should be punishable. All kind of littering in fact. We, as race, are destroying in exponential manner very backbone we all depend on. It does not matter what it is, discarded water bottle, surgical mask (!!) or paint spraying of nature. Only heavy fines will help

I just happened to be going up Christmas gully mid-September when this deed was being done. Higher up I got wet paint on my hand after a handhold. We found a dopey guy half way up who was running out of florescent paint by this point and was very concerned that we would get lost. I had to break it to him that snow was coming and the graffiti would be useless. All I can say is I hope these people get back to their jobs soon and quit obsessing over all this obnoxious nonsense.

He's been active on Seymour too. Some orange lines and dots that I don't recall seeing before. Again, all on ground level rock on a very obvious trail. Seem to be wearing/washing off rather quickly, however.
