Default Mount Fromme Feb 10, 2021

Oddly enough I have never been to the top of Mount Fromme before. It was the day after doing Klaudt and Cartmell and my last day off with poor weather so I figured why not keep it local. Looking at Gaia there were more than a few ways to get up Fromme. I just picked a spot that I could drive up the local roads in my accord and park and then follow whatever hiking or biking trail would take me up and in that general direction. It was a pretty fun solo trip, wandering around. I haven't been on the North Shore trails in quite sometime.

Once I hit snow I decided to follow the Grouse Road instead of the main packed trail that everyone uses in the winter and found an old marker that said STEEP trail to Fromme. Apparently it's an long time older member of the NSR that put this in. It was indeed steep and there was a crazy freeze-thaw in effect in the trees that took some care to get up in spots with no ice axe.

When I arrived near the summit I would posthole my way around until I topped out for some whiteout views.

I decided to take the tourist route down , it was like a luge track and hard packed. Really fun to be able to just glissade down it and lightly run it.

Back in the forest found some black diamond bike route and made it to the car for my 1 view of the day.

Hi Alan...

Nice shots, have not been up that way up Mt. Fromme either, did cross over the upper part from Grouse, on my way to Thunderbird Ridge years ago.

Interesting to not see your video; as it indicates "Age Restriction."

K

Hiking is what keeps you young of mind and heart. When the going gets tough, the tough get going..............

So this is clear example where TR moderation is required.

YouTube video links are fine when they compliment main report. But can't be Age Restricted. While I am certain this was some sort of error, I have removed YouTube link. Spectrum, when you fix the problem, please feel free to reinsert it back.

I think the song had a swear word in it , pretty sure if you just clicked "watch in youtube" it woulda asked if you're over 19 and then be viewable. Oh well.

Went up Mount Fromme on Sunday. Really nice winter wonderland with snow starting from the car but nice and tracked out still. Still have yet to see a view on this one, but on non busy winter days its a joy for a nice morning jaunt.

Nice, I always liked going up Fromme because it was the closest summit to my home, and the trailhead is a 5 minute drive up the hill. Much busier now though. I think you chose the best trailhead.

I hiked Fromme both in summer and winter, but think I prefer summer. You can continue over Senate Peak down to road, then up Eric the Red to Thunderbird Ridge and loop to Gondola. Then gondola download (or BCMC) and back to Prospect parking via Baden Powell
