Default July Mountain & Romeo Sept.13/20

July Mtn & Romeo Sept.13/20
A long drive to a beautiful place, July Mountain I have visited a number of times, but never than more than 500 meters beyond the summit. Target this day was Romeo and we did it. 10 Am before started hiking, and back at 7:30 pm with still good light. We took a number of breaks, so est. 8-1/2 hours to complete the 18.5 km return hike.with 1300 meters of net elevation gain, but with the extensive drop and recovery between July and Romeo, it was significant. The smoke limited views, and it did get chilly at times with the smoke dimming the skies and with stiff winds blowing frequently Visibility to 3 km, much better than the 200 meters back home.

The area warrants a return visit, perhaps a direct path to Juliet.

Nice photos Karl, despite the smoke. Funny how it's always windy in the Coquihalla.

How was the road up to the July Mountain trailhead? Would love to do this again but when I checked 5 years ago (or so) the road was fairly overgrown and not drivable without risking the vehicle's paint

Alder had been cut back probably about 4 years ago, and has regrown. vehicles still at risk of marking their paint.
