Default Not crazy for Crickmer

Working my way through 103 Hikes in SWBC and Crickmer looked like a good option for today. As there’s already a pretty good TR, I won’t get into much detail although I will say that the first 5k of this hike is a logging road. After that it is pushing through a lot of Alders. Probably two strikes that would prevent me from striking out on this trail again.

Patchy snow around 600m, full snow around 800m. Brought snowshoes but didn’t need them. Couldn’t find the trail to make the summit but wouldn’t have been able to see anything due to overcast. In general this area looks great (Stave Lake), and I’d like to explore it further.

Saw some bear poop which was sobering enough to remind me that I’m not alone. Was thankful for the muddy trail which confirmed that bears weren’t walking the entire thing.

Yes we did exactly the same thing, walked from the gate... covering that extra long streth of walking. My understanding is you can get a gate key for the weekend, but not during for the week.

Hiking is what keeps you young of mind and heart. When the going gets tough, the tough get going..............
