A Day in Garibaldi

11 Attachment(s)
Recent stretch of incredible weather made me revisit alpine of Garibaldi park. Photos are shown in chronological order, so itinerary should be obvious - if not, ask.

[Sunset on descent -- took me 2.5 hours from here back to Rubble parking and I wasn't running; not so bad for old and slowpoke after all]

Yes area is ultra-popular and overrun but still so magnificent; I've been to many scenic places around the world but this always makes it inside top 5 regardless how I count.

Beautiful. Did you get the shots of Burton Hut from Panorama? That's a good zoom lens.

Yes, from Panorama. 300mm focal length (I am dumb enough to carry 2 lenses + SLR on a 30+ km day hike). Good catch, shows you know the area very well

Nice! Haven't been up there for a couple of years, Luna not allowed in there.

Looks like you had beautiful weather up there! Great pics, as always. :)

You know what? I keep thinking like that as I get older, but with proper care (nutrition, hydration, etc.) human body keeps adjusting. This was 3rd day in a row of 1000+ vertical as I tried to squeeze out of my brief coast visit as much as I can, and I was just fine (I am in my mid-50s). Just keep going!

I have been to Garibaldi Park over a dozen times and never tire of it. When I first hiked there in the mid to late 1970, there was hardly anyone on the trails and there wasn't the need to worry about car vandalism. Times have changed. I had planned to go there in early Oct but couldn't find a suitable place to camp other than Alice Lake Park however the road is gated which means a late start for hiking.

Backpacking into remote parts of the park is option. Few yrs back I day-hiked to Table Meadows and cursed myself for not taking overnight gear or even just enough food for 2 days. It is a magical place with complete solitude guaranteed

Amazing photographs! I never get tired of your trip reports. Always amazing. :)

And you are not alone on this thing of "2 lenses + camera" on long hikes. lol

Cheers.
