Default Frosty Larches-Sept 29 2018

We camped at Lightning Lake on Friday then at the trailhead by 9 AM Saturday morning. The day started with some drizzle, but it didn’t last long. The clouds were high above the mountains making for good visibility.
I thought we were making good time getting to the 9km marker in 3 1/2 hours. Only about 100 people passed us!
As we had lunch it started to snow and the clouds dropped below Frosty Peak. On the way down we saw about 15 tents at Frosty Camp.
By the time we arrived at our campsite it was raining and continued until we left on Sunday morning

Sounds like lots of folks were out to see the larches.

Similar story in Rockies -- larches out, but dreary, cloudy overcast and just doesn't feel the way it's supposed to.

How is the campground? I walked a bit around Lightning Lake late May this year & it was just opening up. Never stayed there. Does it get crowded / noisy?

I think it's full all summer........maybe 20% full now. Nice big sites, some on the lake.
I think there were more backpackers camped 6 km up the mountain!

Nice pictures, such a nice hike but the crowds would dissuade me from going on the weekend. 15 tents at Frosty Camp, wow!

Missed going this year; too much move got in the way. You picked the best time of year to see the colours.

Hope to really get back into hiking into great areas.

Hiking is what keeps you young of mind and heart. When the going gets tough, the tough get going..............
