Default Evans Valley Snow Caves (July 5/18)

Took advantage of the sunny weather to check out the snow caves up Evans Valley. Trail is in decent condition, though the first little bit after turning from West Canyon has a bit of overgrowth.

Midway along the steep section, there is a new wooden sign saying "Odin's Valley". Does anyone know anything about this sign? The runes translate to :"Stop, Breathe, Open your mind, Listen, ????. Tell no one of this place, here you are with the goddess and the ancients".

The snow caves start fairly high up the valley, and they've definitely receded a fair amount based on photos from a couple of weeks ago. Was nice to actually see snow caves up there though, since three years ago when I went there wasn't any snow at all.

Nice pics, great sign. I always thought this valley looked like something out of a Viking saga or Wagner opera, especially on a cold fall day with clouds swirling around the peaks.

Wow, that is cool! I could imagine it would be quite dangerous though!

My thoughts as well; love this valley. was one of the first hikes I ever did after years of couch potatoeness.

Love those pictures...

Hiking is what keeps you young of mind and heart. When the going gets tough, the tough get going..............
