Snow Camp Mountain and Skyline 1 & 2, 28 June 2017

Ran up to Snow Camp Mountain to check on the wildflowers and snow levels. Snow is basically not an issue anymore in Manning. Only a few small rotting patches were left in the shade on Skyline 2. The flowers are starting to pop and it is truly the best time of year up there. Didn't see any bear signs, but lots of deer prints and some goat scat on the high ridge.

Total moving time was 4 hours with an additional half hour for taking in the view at the top.

Wow. I figured it wouldn't be snow free until Mid July. Thanks for the update.

I did the Skyline I loop a couple of weeks ago and the snow was almost gone then, though some still lingered in the trees on the north side of the ridge on the way down to Strawberry Flats. The glacier lilies were at their peak, one of the best displays I've seen in years. It reminded me what a great hike it is!

The glacier lilies are also at its peak on the Heather Trail and the turnoff to the Bonnevier Trail, although they are starting to shrivel up.

Beauty! I did Red Mtn, Lone Goat and Snow Camp last w/e in that order...would've been easier in reverse order but I wanted to make sure Red got done. Had some incredible views and fun bumslides.

Hi!Is there a water source on skyline II trail at Mowich campground?

rroff 07-10-2017 12:28 PM

Hi, I didn't go as far as Mowich. There are no water sources on the ridge.

Hey Rroff, any chance you took any pics of Frosty while you were up there I would like to see roughly where the snow is/was. I hope the trail up will have just as many flowers on the other side of the valley.

Yes there is, at least last year there was ;) It was not a big water source though when we were there but it was enough.

Here is Frosty from Skyline on Sunday 9 July. There were people on the summit so it is doable now.

And the early summer bloom on Skyline was at its best. Peak summer flowers like groundsel, goldenrod, asters and false hellebore were just starting to come out.

Thanks Bill I am heading up there tomorrow.
