Nice pics with some clear views. I like the shot of the thin ice on the tarn in the meadows up top!

^so do I! Great picture! All of them. I have a friend visiting from France and she hiked Elk Mtn. solo today. Said she didn't see anyone else on the trail. Amazing for such a picture perfect day.

On our way back we did come across a young woman with a french accent on the cairned bump. Pretty in pink and had a border collie-x named Emma with her.

Thanks all : )

Hi again! Oh John. I misunderstood her! I talked to her yesterday and she mentioned bumping into you and Katie as well as a few other people. I guess when I asked her if she met anyone else on the trail, she thought I meant "did you make any new friends?" hence the confusion.

A long drive for you for such a short hike. You'll want to include Mercer, or have 2 vehicles and do the entire ridge from Elk down to Chipmunk Creek at the east end. Preferred snowshoe.

Very nice John, great looking country in autumn sober colour; with snowcap mountains for a backdrop.

Hiking is what keeps you young of mind and heart. When the going gets tough, the tough get going..............
