Default Battle Mountain August 21 2016 (Wells Grey)

The info on this climb is pretty sparse on the world wide web. Do not rely on distances marked on signs in this area, use google maps (such as this map I made of our route

-Off clearwater valley rd turn onto Battle Mountain Rd (15-20mins, good clearance recommended)
-Climb into fight lake is moderate-difficult through forest from first parking lot and (at this time) blueberry bushes, ~5 hours
-Fight lake campsites have food cache and outhouse, not a lot of good fire wood. The lake is decent sized, NE side has sandy beach w shallow water. Camped overnight. August bugs were out but not too bad, could see them being an issue earlier in year.
-From fight lake we went up a meadow finger over the ridge, down into Bull valley, then up the valley of Battle Mountain. Quite gradual and moderate until you get near the top of valley.~2hrs from Fight lake to top of this little valley.
-You can go up the W side and there's a fire lookout shelter, we didn't hike to there might be easier access than this route.
-Up the E ridge you get to a false summit, but obviously continue on to Battle Mountain peak. Great views.
-Following same route down to Bull valley we went around the ridge through forest and moss meadows to the lake, similar time, less up and down.
-Grabbed gear stored in cache at Fight lake and went to Philip lake. About 6km, easy hike. More blueberries, Black bear sighted.
-Phillips Site has cache and Outhouse, a few more developed campsites with benches, tables, fire rings. Lake smaller more weeds nice view under table mountain.
-On way down there's a bridge for access to table mountain (~1km from campsite), says 6km from bridge to Table
-Hike from Bridge is mostly even sloped, with switchbacks, down into the parking lot. I'd say hikes like 4km.
-From Philip parking lot we walked down road to Fight parking lot. It was a long road to walk downhill ~5km

Alternate, if you have 4x4 drive into Phillip lake parking lot and hike the moderate trail from there (more gradual and likely shorter, we hiked down this way). Though the circuit is nice as you are always in new territory.
