Default Brandywine Mountain July 26, 2016

Yesterday I decided on a quick trip to Brandywine Mountain. There's some pretty big waterbars going up the 4x4 road but my Ford Ranger made it easily so it's really not that bad. I was at the parking at 8:45am and started hiking. It's a nice trail up and through the meadows. I think this trail is a little too much. They've build a pretty huge trail through the meadows which in my opinion kind of ruins the scenery but i'm assuming this place gets a lot of traffic and this might be a good way of keeping hikers on the trail and out of the meadows. Anyways easy hiking to the end of the trail then you need to cross the creek and climb a steep heather slope. Once over the slope I hit some snow and made my way straight up to the ridge. Then it's an easy hike to the summit. Nothing technical on this scramble, basically just a steep enjoyable hike with great views all around. Took me about 2.5 hours from the truck to the summit.

You came from the upper parking lot so I guess you missed it, but the from the upper/lower parking lot junction until it gets back into the trees the trail is basically a heavily braided mudfest. I assume this is what the trail through the meadows looked like before they improved it.

Anyways thanks for the views, I summited on Saturday but it was mostly socked-in.

Nice shots! looks like a beauty trip.... still more snow up there than this time last year. At end of july last summer there was pretty much no snow at all.

Just to be clear, could you look at the attached pic to see if i'm clear on your access route. The upper 4x4 road, past the snowmobile cabin turnoff is circled in blue. Is that where you parked?

Jeff your probably right. I was just a little surprised to see such a trail through meadows. It did make the hike very enjoyable though. xj6response, thats exactly where I parked. It's easy to find you'll come to a junction that has a sign pointing to the 2wd and 4wd access. It's about 5km from that junction to the parking. From there it's only about 15min hike to the meadows.

Nice to know that road is driveable, if still rough. It's such a great way to get up to meadows so you can spend time+energy scrambling up on the ridges and peaks instead of grunting up from the lower road.

Great TR, many thanks. You've inspired us to get back this season, and soon!

Great to know, nice shots, and good update.

Last time we were on snowshoe; and on way down was getting overdosed on stinky snowmobile fumes from a mis-operating machine.
