In a hiking groove now that the crazy hot weather is gone...wasn't fun jumping in to the pool after a hot day hike and not knowing whether the water was warm or cool.
Rainbow Lake Saturday,Eaton Lake Sunday night, Spirit Caves Monday morning, then knowing Tuesday was gonna be not that nice but wanting to do something I headed over to Bowen Island to do Mount Gardener...11am half price ferry..6$! No views but enjoyed the cloudy day feel of it all...had thoughts of jumping on a ferry towards Mount Killam but there was no time to go to my car to get a tent and sleeping bag...so I headed up Whistler way. Didn't feel like sitting around, so I decided to start heading up to Singing Pass starting at 9 at night. Saw a nice looking great horned owl or at least that's the closest it looked to me right at Singing Pass...was tripped out by my headlamp and was even worried it would fly right in to my face!
Got to Russet Lake at 130am...tented...didn't want to wake anyone up in the hut. Went from light clouds to clear quite a few times through the night, windy when I first went to bed and around 6-7am it was windy again. Only one person in the hut, a brand new raft with pump in there...log book recording that someone laid in it at night watching the stars.
Headed off at 8am through the musical bumps, taking half note trail through the Symphony Auditorium and taking the Peak Chair and the main gondola back to the bottom.
Really enjoyed the night hiking feel, the air was really really nice going up.
