Default Rigby to Onion 23-08-2015

Day two of our trip to the Molybdenite area saw us head to the lake, a shorter hike was planned as the day before was fairly tough. I was feeling better and having checked out the lake area the day before was thinking of looping around around the lake to Onion.

The road up to the lake isn't in great shape fairly slow going 5.5km from our campsite (with double outhouse and padded seats)
took us slightly over half an hour with five people on board i had to ask them to get out several times to gain a bit more clearance, it warmed them up a bit temp was 01 Degree.

Molybdenite Lake

Getting close to Rigby Peak.

Looking back, Onion E1 on the left and Onion center.

On top of Rigby i decided i wanted to head back and go to Onion, the other headed along the ridge to Revolution, from there they planned to head back to our campsite.

Rigby in the background.

The way ahead.

Looking South-SouthEast.

Molybdenite center, Brew far right, Phair left.

Polythene behind me.

Continuing on to Onion.

Onion far right, then Boulder, Wonder and Elusive far left.

Good views of Boulder and Wonder to the West. The route to N1 and N2 looked like a good scramble but i didn't think i had the time to continue, came down off Onion and aimed for the road that we had seen from Rigby. not really a road it seemed to disappear in a slide i noticed another road below and dropped down to it followed it for a while then it too
disappeared.headed in the direction i guessed the road would be and took it down to the lake.

the ridge continues on to Molybdenite Peak.

Heading down to the lake, Revolution on the left.

Very nice scenic area, quite a few bikers and ATV'ers come up to the lake.
Long drive home added an hour at Squamish with a massive tailback from Britannia beach where the 2 lanes merge into one. quite
smokey around Lillooet.

Cool. Was hoping to return to this area soon. What kind of vehicle did you drive to the lake? Stock Cherokee? Any issues?

There are a couple of rough spots soon after you turn off the main road, had to get out and move a few rocks, that's probably the worst area, once your on the road to the lake same thing, had to get people to get out a few times on the rougher spots.
Standard jeep a couple of scrapes, my side bars got banged a couple of times.
By the way the road, especially when you get close to the lake is very narrow, very few places to pass.
