Default Golden Ears, First time for me, (new outhouse up top as a bonus) (Aug/9/2015)

I noticed another poster participated/worked on setting up the new outhouse and improving the trail. A site which I can only imagine to be one of hilarity if you were a hiker at the time. Quietly working your way up the long route, basking in the beauty of the mountain while taking your lunch and break before the final push to the top and then an outhouse appears out of the sky and sets down on the top right beside you. Too funny. I must say, I did notice a few newer looking trail markings that I felt helped, and of course the outhouse itself was a nice site as it adds a degree of comfort although I didn't have to use it. Many thanks to him and his team though

Anyways, this was my first time up golden ears (or golden eyries as they say). Fairly long and not much to see for the first while. Thankfully I had been somewhat prepared for the monotony by reading a few posts on here first. Nevertheless, the trail went on and on. The first site I had of anything I think occurred at roughly the 8km mark.

However all of that being said, it was beautiful up top. Moreover, since I live in coquitlam it was a strange and awesome thing finally being up a mountain relatively close to home. One that you can see when you cross the port mann bridge. Really truly gorgeous. I wish I could have camped up top and I may indeed do that in the coming month so I can take it all in.

Anyways here are some pictures. I don't have any fancy camera, just my phone.

I tried to capture the sheer volume of this mountain but pictures never do it justice. It was just massive, and right there in front of your face rising out of the earth. Very cool site.

simonc++ for providing the appropriate and respectful answer to Num3n's seemingly (to me, at least) innocent question.

Obviously there's been some sort of miscommunication/ misinterpretation of meaning somewhere. It's too bad we humans are limited to a language form which intrinsically results in bad communication on a regular basis leading to who knows how many unfortunate outcomes.

I appreciate the answer, I had actually never heard of that mountain somehow until now but I'm glad I'm now aware. I love being able to look into the distance and list of the names of moutains. Helps give me my bearings and also helps me create my mental 'to do' list. For instance mt garibaldi and baker. Both forever staring at me from the distance beckoning me to climb them. Sooooon :P

Thanks for the input, I really appreciate it and I'm glad you liked the post. And definitely do try to get it in. Just make it a day hike, start early and knock it off your list, you won't regret it. It's always hard to find time though I know.

I'm sorry that anyone sees disrespect here. The point remains, when you see someone or something that you recognize, no deduction is required.

What was the water situation like at the top Num3n? Still some melt water from the ice pack left?

It had rained the previous day so we had water available to us essentially the entire way up. Start - alder flats +1km there was water the entire way. And up top there was a lot of running water everywhere coming down right beside the shelter, it was brilliant. There was some snow left though so I imagine that even if it hasn't rained you could melt some snow.

bottom right captures the snow. Not much bigger than that, but obviously scale is difficult to tell with pictures.
