Default Mt. Seymour first peak (Aug.08/15) Q*K

I took a brief from the string of Baker area hikes recently and decided on a workkout quickie up Mt. Seymour first peak. 1 hour 5 minutes up, a short stop on top, and then back to the parking lot. 2-1/4 hours return.

Soil moisture was great, soil good and most all the way up to the base of the rocky ground that makes up the route to first peak.

All the trees and plants look happy, no sign of drought stress anywhere, everything looking green and lush.

Time Jones Memmorial looks grand as ever, so many beautiful flowers and items decorating the base of and around this memmorial.

Pictures:

Beginning of trail, skii run...

A ? mystery pond

Rooty Trail in places

Calm Waters, Tarn High Up

View to southeast: Port Mann Bridge

Rocky Terrain, view north to second peak.. And NEW - A Canadian Flag mountain on the summit marker.

Grassy area at foot of skii lift, near parking lot

Karl, that isn't Mystery Lake. It's bigger than that and great for swimming in. We were up there the evening before and caught a nice sunset from the Brockton Point chairlift. A bear and cub are hanging around between Mystery Lake and Brockton Point.

Simon, thanks.

Thought that pond was a little small for a lake. I will now refer to this as mystery pond.

Here's the bear, just under Brockton Pk. The cub we only saw from a distance (no photo).

It's nice to see things are still doing ok without a lot of water up there.

That is a cool shot, thanks. Did not see any berries, so he has no worries about me taking any.
