Default Evans Peak May 19th

Ashi did a thorough trip report about Evans Peak recently so won't go into too much detail.

checked out a map at the West Canyon Trail parking lot

Headed up as if we were going to Alders Flat and veered off left at the sign that said "view point trail"

What a fun hike to Evans Peak, hard to imagine not being able to find father and son team up there. You guys didn't bother to get up to Alouette? Enough fun for one day...

No, didn't bother with Alouette. We started the hike late (around 12:30) and it was a hot day, so I was eager to head down and take a dip in the lake.

Nice; I also had to come 2nd time for Alouette -- lower part of Evans is very steep & takes lot of energy.
Were there many bugs on top? I had to take Deet shower and put wind jacket with hood not to be eaten alive!

zeljkok: I got one mosquito bite on the way up. At the top there were lots of small bugs (No See Ums) flying around us, but they weren't landing or trying to bite. They were annoying while trying to eat.

Very steep, no frills trail, with great views from the summit. Did this trail last June and enjoyed it despite the bugs. I plan on repeating the route to bag Alouette in the next few weeks.

Trail is a great lung expander. Good the cardio workout with the view reward on top.
