Default Lindeman & Greendrop Lakes May 10/15

This lakes area is a pretty one, access located near the campgrounds located at the top (northwest end) of Chilliwack Lake. There is a new parking lot put in late last year, and has a new limited washroom facility. Park facilitator is on site and passes through daily; seems like theft and vandalism might be held in check here for now...

Our club, Ridge Meadows Outdoor Club, put up an event to do this hike and ten of our members joined up to do this hike. Weather was springlike to warm, sunny, and trail conditions were great, just a little mud. If you like talus rocks, there is plenty of that from Lindeman Lake beyond to Greendrop. Trail begins with a grunty grade not quite 200 meters up to Lindeman Lake and then follows the western shore of the lake, through the camping area, and towards Greendrop Lake. When you get close to the latter, watch you do not take a right fork up towards Flora Lake. Officially trail is 14 km return, but my GPS indicated from 16 to 17 km. Net elevation gain was about 380 meters .... We did in 7 hours return including Lunch, at an easy to moderate pace. No hurry.

Thanks for the update, Karl - your report & photos inspired me to go ahead with my own hike to Greendrop yesterday. It was exactly 10 years ago that I first hiked this trail, and every time I've made it to Greendrop Lake (3 times now), it's rained - at least it was only a few drops yesterday! Lindeman Lake looked glorious in the sun. I wonder if I have a photo of the same orchid since we saw only 1 along the way.

You are welcome aspersa, glad you got out to go there.

Saw barely a few of the orchids not far from the trail (past Lindeman).

A delightful flower.

Awesome trip report. Planning on a backpack there hopefully on the long weekend. Is it very busy there due to the holiday? Are the tent pads at Green drop?

Thanks again for your info.

Hehe just learned my lesson. Check date first. I did hear that greendrop is still somewhat covered in snow and ice. Not sure about the campground around it.

Was up there on the 2nd of may 2017. Snow started shortly after Lindeman lake, only made it to the hump of land between Lindeman and Greendrop as the snow was isothermal, slippery, and I kept punching through into the gaps between boulders. Other people were making it to Greendrop and reported the snow continued to the lake and it was still iced up.

Great, thanks for the update. Looking like a while yet before being snow free.
Funny how it can change from one year to the next. Looking at my old photos, was up there in March 2005, and the trail was still partially snow covered, but the lake was already starting to melt.
