Default Hunting the Forests of Yesteryear: The Old Mines of Lynn Headwaters

Back in early March, you know, when it was warmer, Doug, Alex and I did some exploring on a Saturday morning in Lynn Headwaters looking around for some of the old zinc mines. We managed to find the biggest mine adit I've seen in the park before and a number of artifacts from mining camps. It was a great day out!

I had once been to another of the mines, not far from the one we found. What really sticks with me is the thought of how hard those guys had to work get ore out of there. It had to have been incredibly backbreaking!

Full trip report is here and below are a few photo samples....

It's always interesting to discover old relics from years gone by and imagine how difficult mining must have been in the old days. I use to see a lot of old relics when I lived in the West Kootenays.

Really cool stuff Mick, so tantalizing to envision how this looked and felt back in those bygone years.

cool
those axles must have been moved recently, or they'd be sunk a lot more.
Sounds like a dejavu, seems like I said this before, on a different thread??

The ore cart is actually 20 metres off the trail to Norvan Falls at about the 4.7 km mark, on the left, whereas the mine adit is another 200m in elevation above the trail.
