Default Wedgemount Lake trail with video Feb 21

After last weekends Cheam Summit, we had to ramp it up a bit and chose Whistler to gain around 1200m to Wedgemount Lake with heavy daypacks. Leaving Saturday morning and going at a relaxed pace and shopping at MEC found us at the trail head at the cack of 12;30 pm

We quickly found the new trailhead and were on our way. Past the 1/2 way mark, we put full crampons on and stayed on the main trail that was very ICY, you can bypass some sections with less footwear.
2/3 of the way we started to get anxious to get this done, its quite a slog, without any views, several steep benches leave you wondering where the Alpine is? Finally we broke out of the trees and checked out the last push up a well trodden gully. Had a snack at the cabin after meeting Ubishops up there on his way down. Ended up hiking out in headlights and inventing a few new swearwords as we slipped on ice covered by debris. Had a comfortable night in Pemberton Bed and Breakfast.

Great photo set, like that picture of the house at the end of the field. Neat to see you snowy wintertime shots of the lake and vicinity of the cabin.

I'll have to remember this place if I want to stay in Pemberton. I had a couple of boots in the air slip-falls on the weekend too. Glad it wasn't just me.

Hey Aqua and Tyler - both of you, thanks for putting up the great shots of Wedge. Such a wicked place to be on a bluebird day and weird to have it so accessible in February! I noticed a couple of chutes that we typically ski during a normal winter are completely boney! Guess I'll continue to focus on biking unless the snow gods visit again.

Thanks again. This is a great community and I'm enjoying the absence of the bro/brah scene that's so prevalent on other sites!
Cheers, Brian
