Default Joffre/Matier - Nov9, 2014

Alpine forecast said it was going to clear today around noon which was bang on. Started at around 1:30pm. A little snow had fallen last night but the trail was still quite muddy and mostly bare. Going up to the glacier was a challenge today since near the top I had to kick-step to dig my feet in (it was quite hard and crusty in spots). I only had microspikes and when I was traversing across the gully part of me was wishing I had my crampons in addition to my ice axe. There was some nice snow up near the glacier. The way down, spooky as it was, was much easier since I had done a pretty good job at making foot holes on my way up. Think I'll wait for more snow to collect before attempting that one again... Hopefully my report and photos gives some insight into the conditions Looks like the next seven days are nothing but blue sky and sun (along with that Arctic cold front
