Default Mount Rogers

Full trip report:
http://stevensong.com/rogers-peak

Another Rogers Pass trip, this time we were targeting on a big one. Rogers Peak is a good early season snow climbing objective and this past Canada Day seemed like the right day for something like that. We approached the previous evening to shorten the summit day since we had to drive all the way back to Edmonton after the trip.. We got gorgeous evening views and then alpenglow the following morning. The actual climb was icier than expected and was front pointing all the way up that face. The return was again, front pointing down the face, a pleasant walk down the glacier, and a fast return via a well maintained trail. Our RT was 9 hours.

looks nice! I need to start doing some more climbing in that area. Starting to run out of the alpine day trips around the rockies.

Hey Shaun, we stayed roughly at middle of the glacier, away from the rocks. Didn't see any open slot nor sagging, but from the photos I took from above, looks like there're crevasses if venturing close to the broad Tupper/Rogers pass, or too far climber's left. Most of the suspicious areas are at the first 1/3 of the glacier. And of course, the two bergschrund on the face were very filled in and weren't quite visible.

Raff's photo album shows the condition as for August, so you can take a look as well. Not much of a crevasse field neither.
