We set out from the parking lot at just off Westport Road last week and followed the trail from 103 Hikes.
This brought us up to Whyte lake and then joined the BCMC trail from Horseshoe Bay up towards Cyprus.
It's an epic hike with some fun bouldering spots over the boulder field (which could be a bit dodgy in the rain).
The most spectacular views were at Eagle Bluff. We were surprised to meet a lot of people here. I didn't realise you can also hike to here from the Cyprus parking lot.
It was steep up more or less from Whyte Lake to Eagle Bluff, but from here it is a fairly flat easy walk to the summit of Black Mountain. This is quite close to the small but beautiful Cabin Lake and worth the extra few minutes walk.
The views from Black Mountain were not as spectacular as Eagle Bluff but still a great hike.
All in all it took about 10 hours but a wrong turn on the route (see GPS trail below) cost us about 2 hours so its probably an 8 hour for the average hiker.
Really enjoyed this hike. Id recommend it for anybody who hasnt done it.
Sorry about the lack of pictures. There will be more on the next post.
