Default Mt.Hope July 26th 2013

I've been looking at this mountain top for almost four years!

Here is a picture of Mt.Hope the night before out of my driveway.

Timmi's at 4:30am

up Hope Mt.FSR in the dark.

this was my first trip to the top of Hope Mt. It took 2.5 hours from parking lot to the summit up and just under 2 hours back!

The road up to the parking lot is in fair shape, any stock 4x4 will do(no dually)
It takes 1 hour on FSR to drive to parking lot.(about 8km take the right fork with pink tape)

Wells peak to the left!

Mt.Hope to the right of parking lot

Broken bridge

old fork to Wells Peak

almost at top of first ridge

broken bench at top junction (first ridge)
turn left

Mt.Hope still looks far away!

down onto an old logging road for about 1km, then left and up(well marked with ribbon)

after about 15 min of a tight bushy trail, it opens up and shade

the top is near but STEEP

The TOP!

as I'm having a snack by myself(and dog) enjoying the view, a helicopter landed less than 50ft from me!!!! what are the odds

the pilot dropped off 3 guys to replace a solar panel

from the top of mt. looking east towards parking lot and first ridge

Silver lk

Bring lots of water(No streams) and OFF!!!!

That's a nice hike. I have been intending to do this one for awhile. I should just take a day off and go there.

Did you get a lift down in the helicopter?

On the May long weekend about 20 volunteers from the Hope Mountain Centre cleared the road up to the top parking lot! The road is snow free!!
4x4 access only.
Last year we cleared the entire trail to the top !
Great hike with beautiful views!
1 hour drive to top parking lot, about just under 3 hours up and about 2 hours down to truck

Anyone know how much elevation gain from start of FSR to actual trailhead? Don't have a 4 x 4 but considering mountain biking up the FSR, then hiking ..

Thinking this may be way over-ambitious tho :P

It's 10 km and about 700 m vertical on the 4wd section of the logging road. The first half is almost all of the elevation gain. You'd likely be pushing up that, then ride down at end of the day.

Good info and recent efforts on road/trail clearing.
Thanks for the updates just another one of many to add to the list of when you don't want something too hard or long of a day.

Trail/road update June 3 2017

The road up is in good shape, stock 4x4 required as the as there are literally 200 cross ditches to the top parking lot! The snow starts about 1km before the top Parking lot.
I would recommend waiting for the snow to melt as the trail has little to no flagging and is hard to walk on the angled snow between the tree-wells !
The first (false) summit (first 1.5km) is patchy with snow but lots of snow from there on!

With such a deep snow load this winter, lots of bent over alders on the trail. BUT I will be doing trail maintenance with the Hope Mountain Centre soon after the snow melts!!
It's about 45-60 min drive up the Hope mnt FSR in a 4x4
2-1/2 - 3 hours hike up and about half that time down. (When trail is snow free)

It's an amazing trail with great views along the way, especially at the top !!

Great shots Lonewolf, and thank you for the update.

I have not done this trail, but hope to get to it this year.

I have sent a request to Admin to look at your missing pictures, the ones that do not show. I came across on this on one of my old reports, problem was fixed, so it looks like there is more fixing needed.

Oh, I was there on May 27th. There were way more snow. Snow cover was continuous beginning ~1.5km before "upper" parking lot. There was no visible trail, no trailmarkers, so we just headed in the general direction of Hope mtn, guided by trail description and my memory from last year trip. I haven't done so much bushwhacking in a while. :-)
Glad to see that white stuff is finally melting. :-)
