Default Autumn Splendor on the Skagit

Me and little Miss A were due for a walk; she's been a little under the weather this past week. So I chose a spot where we could stay "under the weather" and have a nice, easy going valley bottom walk and enjoy a little bit of fall forest beauty under the canopy.

The Skagit would do the trick. Funny thing - I've been there in the Winter, Summer and Spring but never in the Fall....

I sent an email to Lynn to see if the Brooks would like to join Alexa and I. After some thought, (and in considering the fact she'd not been into the Skagit from Sumallo Grove) they decided they would abort their plans for the snowy/sleety alpine and join us in a hopefully more dry and comfortable photo-shoot saunter up the Skagit river.

Autumn had made it's mark on the river valley.

Art - e - fact! (or mining junk?)

Lynn and a largeish cedar.

Sauntering..

"Dis mine ihs MINE!" [}]

Falls with dog, Falls without.

Colour Full!

Trail

Trees

Lynn: "Cedars are nice but I prefer (Douglas) Fir!"

"Whas a dawg got-a-do ta get somethin to eat aroun here?"

..and through it all, runs a river.

..and some particularly nice trees willing to pose for my lens.

Devils on the fade. <s>Eat</s> Meet you next spring.

Thanks for coming out Lynn and Stu. Delacy is painted picture perfect right now. A good time to camp when/if the weather is a bit drier.

I wished you were my sister Jenn, you're such a sweetheart! Thanks for the invite on a trail that eluded us until now. No problem giving up sleet and snow on the Flat Iron when we have all winter to enjoy that! Here's a few of my photos from a wonderful day out.

The photos are exactly how they came out of my camera on the settings I chose. I'm happy about this little Lumix jem.

Happy trails,
Lynn

Not only was this a visually stunning day, but the sounds in the forest along the river were quite pleasing. The rustling leaves, the gurgling creeks, the rushing river, the oohs and aahs of the photograghers and the humming and clicking of cameras. It was very relaxing!
My best pics from my point and shoot POS. I think it has camera envy.

I stuck the camera in the mine shaft and it gave me this.

Thanks for an enjoyable afternoon exploring something new.

Seems you have a great collection of the experiences; as long as no pitter patter of little cougar feet in the underbrush.[]

Nice collection of shots; combination fits together just great. Enjoy before the white and the gray become the dominant colours other than white crusted green.

Good trip every one.
This pic looks like it is a snow cave, the camera flash washed it out so much. [8D]

I third my acknowledgement. Last year; Ross Lake and Skyline II; unbelievable clouds of the pests and at times very aggressive.

Thats why I prefer the Manning side and usually do this as a shoulder season hike.
