Sep 29/11 Face Mountain

"Up at the Hurley" I hear it all winter long from the sledders.Must be a great area.
I drove up in the two wheel drive vehicle. A little rough when climbing in the car on the
Hurley.

The approach is quick into the alpine and the angle is surprisingly a lot mellower than
your typical coastal schnarbie approach. The faster I can get out of tree line the better.

I tried to go light and fast with bringing my approach shoes, but once on the ridge.I was
post holing like crazy up to my face. This is why I remember why I got into ski mountaineering, or time it so it just a pure rock scramble.

Great area to check out and you can get up multiple peaks in a day.

Very nice. It's hard to recognize you without some skis in the pictures. The attached pic is from August this year. Winter is coming.
