Elkaholic, Stoked had an encounter with some of those people from the encampment when trying to find the right spur on Powder Puff. They got up The Nipple (skied it) though after finding the right way (see picture and report on Bivouac).

Mick, yeah Whistlepig is a interesting name. There's also Jackass Mountain on the other side of The Fraser River. I'm sure someone could find Big Willy Peak in the area if they looked hard enough[].

I like that tusky red racer motif.

Three t.r.s all mentioned into one , very good , lots of good reading.

" Powerpuff " & "johny vegas snowman" , cool names .

Unusual looking beer , that tusker , hadn't seen one of those before. Must be tasty .

An udderly appauling usage of innuendos in this thread! on the other hand this trip was far from a bust, butt a twin summit success! did you find any balloons up there? or pack up any melons for lunch? What time did you get back to the truck, did you have to use your headlights on the way out? I was up in that area before and saw a nice buck with a great rack! Am I rambling? ok done...

Heads up - this road is going to get reopened within the next month or so, you should be able to drive past the rockfall all the way to Speyum Creek by sometime in early August, hopefully.

Will post more when I know more.

Default North Bend forest road

I went up this road in June 2019. It is in good condition to the creek where there used to be a bridge years ago and after that the road is overgrown with lots of aldar. Red dot on this map I drew shows the end of drivable road. Other good maps available for free download from BC government are available here. They are in PDF at 1:20,000 scale.

Default Road report

In June 2020 North Bend FSR has more than 20 cross ditches dug across road. Some may be a challenge for low clearance vehicle. It may help to bring along a couple pieces of lumber 3-4 feet long and a few shorter blocks. Road is well traveled but I don't know what type. I was riding dual sport motor bike.

Default North Bend FSR report

In August 2022 North Bend FSR all cross ditches filled in and smooth. Large rocks blocking road at KM 10 about 1K before where you could drive to last year.
