Wildman...I'm guessing there was still 6' of snow at the lake. Down 2' from 2 weeks ago.

This is amazing stuff J&K, two great TRs merged into one. Both places still for me to explore, thanks for the beta!

Some of the pics from the first one look curiously familiar...

Bushwhacking in shorts... That's hard core!

Hey, thanks RB...much appreciated. : )

By the way, a few of us are wondering what Katie is thinking about when sitting/staring off across the lakes during her 'alone times'...according to your Stein report, you must know exactly what she is thinking about? : )

I forgot to mention in my report that I got a flat tire just after turning off Mystery Creek FSR on the way home. Tire guy said there were 3 holes, 2 of which still had nails. Perhaps they fell off a truck, or were purposely dumped on the road, but I'd take 2 spares with you if going that way.

Also, there is a free blue bearbanger launcher somewhere just before the upper lake. : (

Well, I can't say I've penetrated Katie's thoughts, that would be arrogant of me and invasive on her... but I can speculate

Perhaps she's thinking: "What the hell is there in this lake that pops out for a second and then disappears?"
And also: "While I'm waiting for whatever it is to re-appear, I can't help being mesmerised by those impressive peaks across the lake - are you ready for them John?"

Hi John..

I was wondering if you had any close contact with bears up there. The picture of you camping out overnight looks grand. There being lots of snow, bears might be extra hungry and looking for rich food.

Hey Karl, except for the bear across the river, no fresh scat or tracks. No signs of bears above the bush bowl, whatsoever.
I don't remember coming across any signs of bears on the Statlu hike.

Thanks TB and CS...glad you enjoyed it. : )
