Default Panorama Peak Success - Saturday January 22

Organized a hike with Wanderung yesterday to Panorama Peak in Garibaldi. All 5 of us made it to the peak to enjoy breathtaking views that only come along with cooperating weather and lots of work! The conditions were good for the most part - not a breath of wind until we started the ascent up to the peak. The temperatures for most of the way were likely around minus three with it being -12 with the wind chill on the peak. Breaking trail wasn't too difficult either because there was maybe a foot of fresh snow on top of a hard layer. It was a long day, starting at the trailhead at 7:00 and ending around 6:3opm. Lots of sun and the clouds were low so it felt like you were really up there

Beautiful shots of the clouds in the valley below

Is that a track I see across Garibaldi Lake?

There's no such thing as Panorama Peak in Garibaldi, but there is a peak called Panorama Ridge.

There's always one in every crowd This is the highest point of elevation on the ridge. There are lots of mountains that don't officially have a "peak title" but we still refer to them as reaching the peak or high point. Are you a hiker or an English Phd? After 11 hours of hard work that's all you have to say? I guess you didn't get "out" this weekend so you're bitter...

The peak you reached has always been called Panorama Ridge, and that's it, no need to re-name it. Considering that you're wrong and Dru is right, there's also no need to take this defensive stance.

Anyway, great photos and congratulations on summitting. Must have been lots of hard work indeed.

Fab photos! Panorama Ridge as day trip at this time of year is great accomplishment.

I am also curious about tracks across the lake? I am waiting for days to get a bit longer to try day trip to Burton Hut.

Hmmmmm. If there is no official Panorama Peak, Mount or Summit, only a Panorama Ridge, then shouldn't you have said 'congratulations on ridging'?

A group of VOCers planned a trip at Sphinx this weekend. I'd assume they successfully crossed the lake...? Or, I'll let you know if some of them dipped in for ice lake fishing...

They probably made it - we ran into them half way across the lake on our return from Burton hut.

We were on Panorama Ridge in October, the day before the snows came. Big difference from your trip, for sure

Beautiful shots all of them, gives the impression of the high Artic. My favourites are those with the clouds in the valley below.

just finished putting together a video. I guess I'll have to add some music next time, and more talking. it's kinda boring. first time trying to make one.

and I'm not doing this hike again untill I can get to the parking lot!... the extra 4km makes it a killer day.

the last part is totaly exposed too which is a little scary.
