I am sure the more he does it, the more likely it will happen. Give him a year bagging summits every weekend, and then he might take your breath away keeping up.

Aces, way to go

I ventured part way up Mt Tzouhalem a couple years ago, didn't get as high up as you did.

If you're wandering around the island for awhile, drop me a note if you need a hiking partner.

Prevost is quite a bit higher no? If 200m gain is swear-worthy, better take it S L O W...

Whats a Tzouhalem? Good tr,Aces.
I was wondering about that, too. Did you need a rope for the crux?

No rope neaded for crux... I know I know, my report collection is getting dusty. I need to post some fun soon.

Default Update of Tzouhalem

I wasn't going to bother with a TR for Van Isle's Mt Tzouhalem, but thought this a good chance to 'up' a TR from some years ago done by formerly active CT'er 'AcesHigh' ... sigh so many good members drifted away

At any rate, we had a few hours in between caring for our toddler grandson and while down in the Cowichan area we thought to make a quick dash up to "The Cross", then on to the summit. This is a nifty little hike, although seriously fun, slightly tougher alternative grinds up from providence farm or near Genoa Bay are also available. This outing was along the standard route up as can be seen by the map attached. FWIW, the Cowichan area has many great trails with good views most quite moderate in intensity.

Tzouhalem? Amazing views, a nice climb, numerous rabbit trails for mountain bikers to use. Short and sweet. If you're there do this little leg stretcher.

Again, thanks to AcesHigh, wherever he may be, for the original TR.

good stuff. Was thinking about Tzouhalem last month when I was on the Island, but you can only squeeze so much & I was primarily interested in Juan De Fuca corridor while in Vic.

My general perception of south part of VI hiking is that there is nothing epic, but so many little gems to explore. And the climate beats anything in Canada

That's exactly right. The south island has a lush, mild climate with more gentle terrain. Hiking there is about exploring, not bagging mighty peaks. It's not the majestic Rockies/Purcells, the Sea to Sky or North+central VanIsle but it's great all the same.
