CJB, I'd be up for an attempt on Guardian or other peaks in the area.

Scrambler, I don't dislike overnighters, and I would love to be around for the good photo lighting if camping. I've done some, but in years past and even now I am working extra jobs and don't always have the time.

That said, I know I have to make more of an effort to try to do one again. I gotta get out of this day hiking only rut I'm stuck in.

Thanks for all the comments everyone.

I saw evidence of tracks across Helm Glacier heading towards Castle Towers. I took 9 hours return just to reach the edge of Helm Glacier. Will be posting my trip shortly.

What a kick ass day... 3100m is awesome, and obviously the scenery ruled.Great job guys.

That day looked like 99.9 % good Karma, marred only by the stop at Rotten Ronnie's.

so the route up castle towers doesn,t include the summit of panorama, question mark, instead I would go via the lake in the caldera to the col between gentian and panorama, question mark, over the summit of gentian, down into the pass and on to castle towers, question mark,

cowboy5, you could go over Panorama and Gentian Peak if you wished. Or you could go up the Helm Glacier. We basically split the difference and went up an area between them to get to the col between Panorama and Gentian Peak. From there it was easy to walk across the top of the Helm Glacier before heading down and then up Polemomium Ridge.

Having tried this I gotta say hats off to you guys. Way harder than Price or Overlord, especially the route-finding. Maybe another day. Keep those TRs coming.
