Thank you for the warm feedback everyone. I forgot to mention there is a summit log to write your names on, and there were no bugs at all. Didn't need any spray. You can't always say that.
iamcanjim: The trail was dry and dusty with no water sources at all. You could camp at the lake for a source, so turn right at the cairn below the 2nd ridge ascent. There are really many small areas to set up a tent or two. There is even a natrual shelter on the higher ridge. It looks like a Flinstone's tent: a huge granite slab lying over a large boulder providing perfect cover. The rock is so neat up there.

Looks like I'm heading for the Needle this friday. Will have some pics as well, looks like a great hike. Has anyone been there in the past year or so with an update??
