Thank you all! It took awhile extra both in and out for the photo stops, but I found that this time of year is a great time to be there with everything beginning to blossom and sprout and it's not too hot in there yet.
Peter the camp is roughly 8km with a bit of elevation gain and drop from the "devil's staircase", but it's only like 150 metres or so of elevation exchange. 3 hours in is a nice leisurely pace.
