Default Sowaqua Creek FSR out

There's a washout at kilometre 12 http://hopemountain.org/trails/hbc-heritage-trail/ (click on "Trail Access and Directions"). I'm told that it's "passable" in a pickup truck but unsure how long that will be. Anyone considering hiking the HBC Heritage Trail from that direction may expect to have to hike an extra eight kilometres.

Anyone know if the road is clear now? I'll be driving up in an SUV in the morning... thanks!

I believe it is. Some friends climbed Tulameen from Sowaqua Creek last weekend.

I like to go that way towards Dewdney Peak, perhaps in a week or two..

Seems the forestry service has the road closed still. We had to park at km12 and hike in to the HBC trailhead. They'll start work on the wash out section this week apparently, so it may be harder to get by. The operator I talked to said techinically he wasn't supposed to let us by, but he did anyway (to walk only, not the vehicle). He asked us to park well away from where the machinery turns around. Also, he warned us if we did drive our car past his machine may break down and we'd be stuck for at least a few days.

BTW, as it is now the washout is very easy to get by... no issues. That being said, they'll likely be fixing it very soon.

Hey all. Drove Sowaqua Creek last weekend to the HBC trailhead. Washout repaired. Roads a little rough in a couple spots but we did ok in our Hyundai.

Hike to Deer Camp and then up to Palmer's Pond was toasty, steep — and totally worth it.

Drove up the road, and did a hike on Dewdney Mountain.

Access is good all the way, far in spur roads to cut block areas have some down trees.

Yup, road is fine now however might be a bit rough for any sedans or low clearance vehicles. Did about 50km of the HBC one weekend early this month, it was beautiful.
