6 am Beamer juice to go and a sunset finish. Had to work next couple of days so no pub that night.
But what a fantastic hike,
Dialed the nice trail up grotto, rain then snow is always welcome for temperature control.sun and just the start of sweat gets us back down to cougar creek.
Wash up and lady mac next.just starts to drizzle ,helps set the pace. Up the hard rock face and dance across to the log book.one of the few times I've nailed the last bit of good scree and no twisted ankles on the trail down.
Buddy had his car so back to beamers. He had the chicken club ,I enjoyed my protein shake with vitamins and a chunk of halva, off we go.
man what a bagged out slog up ha ling, lucky no snow or slush on trail or that was it for me!!
easy decent down (and another 100% scree bash)
talk of take out and hot tub takes over the conversation.decided to man up and see how we feel at the dream catcher turn. Don't know if it was the fellow late start hiker we met or a second wind that drove us to the top but we made EEOR summit in record time.
sign the book, watch the sun drop, take a pic, jump on rock, and off we go.sweet ride down 150 meters of hard snow then another fantastic scree shoot. It was then that we noticed no clouds and enough light to make it almost all the way down without our head lamps...and we did it!!
-hit all the scree runs
-signed all the books
-only sweated the one time
-first time on the nice grotto trail
-never ran out of food and water
-had music all day
-hard to believe but neither one of us got any rocks in our shoes
The whole day!!
Other than that 250m miss coming off grotto and sweating that one time ,a bang on hlke for solstice.
