Default Wells Gray info?

Taking Sam up there this summer, perhaps as soon as early August.
Doing some research. Obvious waterwalls. Easy alpine anywhere?
BC Parks hasn't updated their webpage warning/alert since last December. Very current of them.
Any suggestions for not only must-do's but also slightly off the beaten track ideas are most welcome...

Trophy Mountain is an easy alpine hike, good for with kids - when there is no snow I think when I last checked the website the area had just started to melt in the past little while. The road is open to the trailhead anyway...

I have no problem with them. We have an agreement, we leave each other alone - which is mostly adhered too. Unfortunately Sam doesn't have the same arrangement.

Trophy is a nice prize! I went early in July a few years ago and spent some quality time bonding with the inside of my tent to keep out of the bugs.

There are some cool things to explore - you can summit a mountain, check out an old trapper cabin, swim in the lake, take photos of the meadow. I'd take my kid there if I were closer.

Besides the obvious (Waterfalls and Trophy), there is nice little trail I enjoyed further up Clearwater Valley Road. It is called "Ray Farm and Mineral Springs". Around km 54 from Wells Gray Visitor Center there will be trailhead on right side of the road. Farm is close -- 10 minutes, but you can keep going (good trail) to mineral springs, then come back via Alice Lake loop. Mostly flat. Maybe 1 - 1 1/2 hour total? Visitor Center has brochure that describes it. Here are some photos:

Yes, there will be bugs. Lots

Definitely Trophy Meadows and Mountain trail but as the others have said, be prepared for clouds of monster mosquitoes.

Hiking the Dragon's Tongue Lava Flow trail is really cool.
