Default Gambier Lake & Strike Lake

Hi, I'm researching some short-ish hikes that we can do with our kids that will take us to a campsite. I first posted in the main BC hiking forum before I realized there was a Hiking With Kids forum. The other thread already has a couple of good ideas (Lindeman, Stein to Loop Camp, Upper Skagit).

I'm also quite interested in the hike to Gambier Lake as well as Strike Lake in Manning Park. As for Gambier Lake, would it be possible to take a Chariot stroller (using the jogging wheel) for that trail? 7km is definitely too long for our kids, which will be 3.5 and 5 this summer. As for Strike Lake, it sounds like it has limited camping available and I have no idea on what strategies a person uses to ensure a spot. I guess the earlier the start the better but ideally our day would start out in Vancouver, not Lightning Lake.

thanks!

The first half of the hike into Gambier Lake is on a road so the stroller would be OK. The last half is on a trail that pretty much follows an erosion channel. It's rocky and a little loose, I think the stroller would suck in there.

You could try East Canyon in Golden Ears. Should be able to push a stroller in there.

I've only been to Gambier Lake ages ago, .. but it's on my short list of places to go for an overnight with my kids in May, . but they're a couple years older then yours.
